About What Catastrophe?
This site was created to hopefully fill a gap. Many blogs do not incorporate forums for user-threaded discussion. As a result, many blog discussions results in drastically off-topic discussion as a thread deteriorates over a relatively short time. Some blogs are heavily moderated in order to prevent such a thing, but it's also a lot of work for the blog owner. Blogs also don't often have facilities for image and file repositories for commenters and contributors alike.
The title and domain name do reflect my own bias regarding the "climate change" debate. But I like to think I am open-minded enough to listen to reasoned argument, but not so much that my brains fall out. Having said that, I will in no way censor any opposing viewpoint, as long as the discussion is civil and reasonable.
The focus points of this site are Weather and Climate related topics, both from a scientific and a political perspective. My hope is that users of sites such as Watts Up With That will utilize this resource to continue discussions of important topics by using the forums and the file repository functionality of this site.
This site will also allow recognized Contributors to post their own blog entries as they see fit. All registered users may utilize the File Repository to add images, charts, graphs, code, etc for use here or to link to from other sites.
I intend the site to be totally free, always, and to be as open as possible. Registration is not required to post comments. Of course there will always be those who would like to take advantage of such things, but between automated anti-spam efforts along with active administration, hopefully spam will be kept to a minimum.
As always, I'm open to feedback about the site. So if you have a suggestion, post a new topic in the Suggestion Box forum and I'll address it as soon as possible.
Remember, the users of a site determine whether it succeeds or fails. So let's see if we can make this work!
Sincerely,
Jeff Alberts, Admin

Hi Jeff!
Hope this gets through. I could not get past your CAPTCHA before.
I'm not sure if this website/blog is going to take off in its present form. I think that people like nice, friendly, interesting hooks (preferably with pictures) on which to hang comments etc. Requests to divert conversations from WUWT doesn't seem to work very well. People seem to get too engrossed there!
However, I realize you must have a reasonable technical skill to set this up; and obviously you care. I'd like to think that we could collaborate somehow. I've shifted on my thoughts re a wiki - things one can already do even without a wiki but that move in that direction and prepare pages that could later on be transferred. Have a read here if you haven't looked recently.
Hi Lucy, thanks for stopping by. And thanks for the feedback. I just poppeed over to your site and posted a message.
